Gravity-Vented Unit Heaters
Due to its low cost and compact design, Modine’s PD propeller unit heater is the logical choice for many unit heater applications. The model PD is a gas-fired, gravity-vented propeller unit heater that provides application versatility, ease of installation, low installed cost, long life and excellent heat-throw. Designed for overhead-suspended mounting, this heater only requires venting, gas and electric service connections prior to operation.
Propeller fan units are classified as zero-static-pressure type, and should not be used with velocity-generating discharge nozzles or ductwork connections.
The model BD blower is a gas-fired, gravity-vented blower unit heater, and is usually selected in place of the model PD for one or more of the following reasons:
- To overcome static pressures.
- Where several rooms or areas are to be served by a remote heat source.
- To provide heat, filtered air and ventilation, all from a single source.
- When quiet operation is important.
- For zone control over heating and ventilation.
- For spot heating or high mounting-heights where special discharge nozzles may be required.

Horizontal Oil-Fired Unit Heaters
Modine oil-fired unit heaters are built with time-tested and field-proven components, all properly combined and balanced to provide optimum comfort and heating efficiency. The long-life heat exchanger is made of corrosion-resistant, aluminized steel and is roll-formed to eliminate thermal stress. It contains a preformed, ceramic fiber fire-pot that is lightweight, resilient, and resists both mechanical and thermal shocks.
The oil burner is a reliable, pressure-atomizing gun-type equipped with a stainless steel, diestamped flame-retention head. The flame produced can increase combustion efficiency by as much as 20 to 30 percent over non-flame retention-type burners. Safe, automatic operation is assured by additional features such as a cad-cell safety shut-off system, electric-spark ignition, fan and limit control and a finger-proof fan guard.
Easy to install and service, each oil-fired unit heater is factory assembled, wired, and firetested prior to shipment. Ease of service is achieved by equipping the heat exchanger with an inspection port, two clean-out ports, and an amply-sized service door for removing fire pot when replacement becomes necessary.
The oil-fired unit casing is treated for protection against corrosion prior to the application of the attractive gray-green, baked-on enamel finish.

- Aluminized steel heat exchanger
- Electric-spark ignition
